On a train in 1944 heading to New York, Paul Jalbert had no idea what his destiny had in store for him. From the shelf of a local grocery store in Newark, N.J. he discovered tasty peanuts by the name of Krispy Kernels. Instantly seduced, it was the beginning of a beautiful partnership.
Paul purchased the exclusive distribution rights to Krispy Kernels in Canada and in 1953, bought out his partner, becoming a 100% Canadian company.

When a new factory opened in Québec city, the logo was modified. From two American Confederate Army colonels, the logo became the little freckled boy that we all know so well and who still represents the company's image today.
After many years of hard work, while building the company and brand with unbridled passion, Paul dreamed the family business would someday continue in the hands of one of his 9 children. In 1970, Denis, the oldest of the family, did take over as general manager, and the second generation of “peanut connoisseurs” was born.
Three decades later, Renée-Maude and Valérie, Paul’s two granddaughters, joined the family business. Growing up with the example of their ancestor’s determination, passion and dedication, they both understood at a very young age that there is no compromise when offering our customers the best. Our promise to you.
In the hope of meeting the ever-changing expectations and needs of consumers, Krispy Kernels built a “peanut-free facility”, where certified peanut-free products are made, offering an even greater product portfolio to our ever-growing customer base.
With the addition over the years of products such as dried fruit & nuts mixes, microwave popcorn and candy to complement our product portfolio, Paul’s mission and values are still very much a part of our present-day corporate philosophy.
We offer more than just nuts and peanuts.
Still going strong after 65 years, Krispy Kernels will continue to innovate and strive to be a proactive company and offer fresh premium quality products, thereby respecting the founder’s philosophy of excellence.
More than ever, the Krispy Kernels brand is as much a product of a dream and determination, as it is the work of a talented trail blazer.
PS: Help keep Canadian brands for future generations and ask your local stores to offer you 100% made in Canada products.
